QT Vascular is a global company engaged in the development and commercialization of innovative devices for the minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease without the use of permanent implants (stents).
Why is it important to avoid the use of permanent implants such as stents?
While stents deliver very important treatment benefits to many patients, they are also associated with the build up of scar tissue, metal fatigue leading to strut fracture (1,2), and the need for long-term blood thinning medications which can be expensive and have negative side effects. Treating a vessel without a permanent implant also allows the potential for that vessel to regain its normal physiological motion as well as preserve treatment options.
